This is an excerpt from the 69-page S and Z Vocabulary Picture Grids. Each page from that 69-page eBook contains a grid of 20 vocabulary words and focuses on just one type of sound (i.e., initial, medial, final, blends). This allows you to provide extremely targeted articulation practice.
This freebie includes the following two grids: Initial S and Initial Z.
These grids are extremely flexible:
-They can be used for straight drill or for any type of game or activity you design. For example, you can ask your student to tell you a story using the words from pictures 5, 7, 11, and 19.
-They provide a great opportunity to reinforce concepts. For example, you can ask the student to name the picture under box #9 or identify which picture is at the end of row 3.
-They are also useful for general vocabulary practice, even for students who do not need articulation therapy.
The following is a longer example of a game you can play with the grids. RACE CAR: With a colored marker make a large dot on any picture in the worksheet. Draw a trail with the marker through most or all of the pictures. Draw the outline of a garage on the last picture you have chosen at the end of the trail. Place a small “hot wheels” type car on the dot. Explain to your student that the race course begins on the dot and ask him/her to name each picture on the track as they drive the car along the track and into the garage. This game may be played on a variety of race tracks drawn on multiple copies of a student’s worksheet.
PLEASE NOTE that two versions of this freebie are included. One shows the grids in “landscape” orientation so you can view the grids on a computer or laptop. The other shows the grids in “portrait” orientation so you can just hit the print button to print out whatever grids you need for your therapy practice. If you’re viewing the grids on a tablet, either version will work since you can lock your screen.
The grids can be printed either in color or black and white.
