Do you have students who would benefit from diving deeper into the style of writing with grammar -- rather than simply the rules of writing with grammar? Maybe they are ready to add a polysyndeton or an asyndeton to their essays? Or a ruler breaking comma in a coordinate pair? In this lesson, you will reinforce the basic punctuation rule for coordinate pairs. Then you will teach students how to break that rule with seven (7) exceptions and oddities that are little known secrets in English Grammar: the comma but, comma and, dash and, Oxford Comma, polysyndeton, asyndeton, and elliptical determiners. You will guide students through a PowerPoint of notes and a guided note worksheet before assessing their understanding with two (2) SAT/ACT style worksheets for practice. If you like this and want more detailed practice on punctuation rules, check out my Advanced Grammar Unit 7: https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Advanced-Grammar-SAT-Prep-Unit-7-Commas-Colons-Semicolons-and-Dashes-3381454
