This resource is perfect for students to practise recognising beginning sounds (SATPIN). There are different version included in the file. You can choose to use the sound cards, differentiated dice or differentiated spinners. It uses the same cute characters from my SATPIN phonics bundle.
How to play:
: Print the I spy mat (Print A3 if possible) and print 2 copies of the card pages. Cut and laminate the cards. These cards will be stacked in the middle of the board. Players will pick a card from the pile, say the sound and then find a picture to match the sound. Each player will have a different coloured counter to cover the pictures they find. The used card goes into a pile. When all of the cards have been use din the middle, shuffle the cards and continue the game until all of the pictures have been covered.
Print the I Spy mat (A3) and the dice template (choose which dice you want the students to use). Students take turns rolling the dice and finding the picture that begins with that sound.
Print the I Spy mat (A3) – choose the version you would like students to use. Put a spinner in the middle of the board (use a paperclip and pencil). Students will take turns spinning and covering pictures that begin with the sound they spin. Continue until all pictures have been covered.
The dice, spinners and cards are differentiated for you to choose the best choice for your learners. There are just pictures (using the same characters from the phonics bundle), pictures and letters or just letters.
