This product contains SBAC practice questions related literature for W.W. Jacobs' short story, "The Monkey's Paw." It also includes a link to a non-fiction article wtih SBAC-style questions for informational text. Both parts include an answer key, including sample SCRs.
The story questions focus on theme, character, inference, and word choice. The article is from BBC News, and is about a fakir in India (much like the one who put the spell on the paw in the story) who has lived for ten days without food or water. There are questions about drawing conclusions, central idea, supporting evidence, and figurative language.
All of the questions are written using stems from the SBAC-released questions for middle school. They are written and formatted as closely as possible to what students will see on the SBAC exam. These will help your students grow in confidence for the SBAC, that use engaging texts.
The short story is not included, but it is very easy to find online.
