Whenever using interactive notebooks, having the students know what standards they are supposed to be learning has proven very helpful! This document is made to be an interactive study tool of the standards. Make sure you print the pages back to back (double sided). Once printed, you fold the paper in half with the "Structures, Processes, and Responses of Plants Standard" on top! ( It is a bit odd for the students to fold because it seems 'backwards' to them! Reassure them it's okay (: )
Then, the students cut along the dotted line ONLY on the top page! Once this is completed they will have individual flaps for each standard. On top is the standard, and when they open up the flap there will be questions that directly relate to that individual standard! It's a great study tool and review at the end of the unit. You can give it to them at the end of a unit or at the beginning! It works as a great warm-up.
The font is quite small as I tried to fit a lot of useful questions in the small spaces. Student do need to be quite careful cutting on the dotted lines! Some parts of the standard have multiple answers and allow the students to "choose". The top section is for the students to explore and find a plant they think is cool! Then they must write down the common name and also it's binomial nomenclature. This helps them practice taxonomy, and a picture is included for those artistic students.
**These standards are based on the SC Plant Standards.
