This assignment is easy! Simply print and go!!! It will have your students writing a short poem that fits in with the spooky October mood, and creating an illustration to coincide with the poem. Each student will create two quilt-like scare squares (all of which have been created for you). The first scare-square will feature the poem and the second will feature the illustrations. I have given you plenty of options as far as the squares go. Lots of different patterns to choose from. I also kept one completely blank in the event you have artists that like to do their own thing.
This makes a BOOOOOO-TIFUL BULLETIN BOARD!!! You can do this at any time or leave it for a substitute to work on.
This product includes:
1. Scare Square Templates (5 to choose from)
2. Grading Rubric (2 to choose from) 1 is more thorough while the other is designed for simple and easy grading.
3. Two High Exemplars of Student Projects. (includes both the poem and illustration scare squares.) I made sure to include two poems for you to choose from to pick the one that is most appropriate for your grade level. There is a darker one for upper grades and a lighter one for the lower grades.
4. Teacher Notes Page explaining how to complete the project. (Procedure...)
I hope you enjoy this as much as my students do!
