UNIT: SCIENTIFIC METHOD
This is an engaging interactive notepacket containing ongoing assessments and collaborate group regarding the Scientific Method. In this 4 day lesson, students will discover on their own, how to use the protocol of the Scientific Method to answer "any" problems in nature. This original notepacket includes 5 pages of notes going through each step of the Scientific Method with a interesting twist.
Throughout the notes, students will be formatively assessed as they need to manage within their planned learning communities to explore and discover each step of the Scientific Method.
The Comparision between a theory and law activity will engage students using a scheme that they are too familiar with; social media. Students will read what other students, their age, think about the differences between a scientific theory and law. They will add to the blog activity sheet and reply with the reason why they either agree or disagree with their responses.
The final activity of the packet includes a Rattlesnake Activity which will allow students to be members of different research teams. Together, each team will share and analyize data. They will be able to use the Scientific Method to understand the problem that exists with Rattlesnakes and their ability to track prey once bitten. Its a great scenario to include any unit on the the scientific method. I have taught this lesson several times and it has been flawlessly effective. The students really do enjoy working together as science teams and it should be promoted as much as possible.
Even though not required, there is a PowerPoint that syncs up with this notepacket. Please visit my store and look for the Scientific Method PowerPoint. This PowerPoint and is engaging. I ask is that you follow me and provide feedback. Thank you very much for your support.
