This activity is a great way to assess students’ phonemic awareness (vowel sounds), by playing a fun game of SCOOT. This game helps to get kids up and moving, while assessing their knowledge of an important skill. This game does not take a lot of time or preparation! My kids have played various SCOOT games with our librarian and they love it! I was looking for a fun way to review this skill and this is it!
There are 24 questions to be placed on each student desk or table around the classroom. The students SCOOT to the next seat to answer the questions. The students can either write the letter of the word with the same vowel sound or they can write the word they have chosen. There is plenty of room to do either on SCOOT accountability sheet. I hope this product serves as useful teaching tool in your classroom!
