Scotland, My Heart (with 'Loch Lomond')
SAB/3-Part Mixed Chorus with Optional Bagpipes/Recorder
Scotland, My Heart is a song of love for the country of Scotland, from royalty to friends and family, and the pride that is shown when showing allegiance. The traditional tune 'Loch Lomond" is intertwined in this arrangement.
Includes a beautiful melody with bagpipe drones in the late intermediate level accompaniment.
Recorder or other instrument may be substituted for bagpipes
Drums may be used ad lib (cues in song)
Humming introduces the melody
Comfortable singing range
Soft, easy melody leads to a very climactic center which returns to a fading out process (p > ff > ppp)
The idea of the song is that the drone of the bagpipes is heard barely in the distance, then the drums are added. The vocals to the song start of very light and easy with humming and adding one part at a time, building together in the center, and finally getting softer, returning to hums, drums fade out, then bagpipes fade out as the pipers are walking away.
