Do you have English Language Learners at your school? Do your teachers need more practice implementing strategies that are designed for English Language Learners? Then you came to the right place. This presentation is designed for beginning and seasoned teachers to introduce or review the SDAIE (specially designed academic instructions in English) to assist teachers to provide more support to their ELL students in the classroom. This presentation explains how ELL learn English and suggests how to help ELL access general curriculum in Science, History, Math, and other subjects. Although there are many SDAIE strategies out there, this presentation focuses on major 4 strategies that will assist teachers to see the result of their work in a short period of time: Hands-on activities, cooperative learning, visuals, and guarded vocabulary. This presentation encourages teachers to develop a lesson plan using one of the SDAIE strategies as a homework assignment.
This presentation was used during a Professional Development in a public school to educate teachers on SDAIE strategies. It could also be used in teaching methodology courses in Teaching Credential Program as well.
