Are you looking for an on-going method to help student integrate and use punctuation effectively and correctly? The SEE strategy can help.
The SEE strategy can become a regular feature of your classroom and serves as an excellent warm-up or pre-writing activity or even post-reading activity. The idea is to have students first read silently a self-selected or teacher chosen bit of text. As they read students search for and find targeted marks of punctuation. They then look to explain how and why that punctuation mark is being used. And finally, they generate their own recreation of the pattern.
