Sentence Workshop ~ Teachers’ Guide.
This short, simple workshop is designed to introduce or refresh students’ knowledge of sentence and paragraph structure with the aim of improving their writing skills. Students will continue to use their knowledge (and refer to their notes) during self and peer editing throughout their writing careers.
1. Teachers’ guide with detailed lesson procedures
2. Students’ guide (10 pages; PowerPoint presentation transcripts: explanations and examples)
3. Presentations for sentence fragments, run-on sentences, transition words, and paragraphs in .ppt, .pptx and .pdf format.
4. 16 items in total
Timing & Delivery:
How much time you spend on this workshop will depend on your cohort. You could use it for the first 15 – 20 minutes of 4 – 5 lessons, or consolidate it into 2 -3 lessons. I taught this workshop with students copying notes from the slides into their notebooks (obviously this will take more time). If you want to save time, or you think it will be too challenging for students to copy from the screen, have them make notes on the students’ guide handout while discussing the material in class. For students using notebooks, you may wish to give them the student guide as reference material after the workshop.
PLEASE NOTE: THIS LESSON BUNDLE INCLUDES THIS INDIVIDUAL LESSON, AVAILABLE AS A SEPARATE BUNDLE HERE: TRANSITION WORDS WORKSHEET AND PRESENTATION
