This activity is meant to compliment the book She Persisted: 13 American Women Who Changed the World by Chelsea Clinton.
This activity is a perfect back to school activity to foster perseverance in your students and to expose them to smart, powerful women who have made an impact in our world. By reading aloud the story and talking with your students about what persistence means, your students will have what they need to write a text-to-self connected response about a time they have had to persist socially, or academically. They will also have a chance to put together a hand for the bulletin board that represents themselves.
The brag tags included will help your students continue this perseverant mindset in the face of adversity and challenges that you have helped them to develop all year long. By identifying what it is they are doing to overcome challenges like the women they've read about, students will develop the qualities of strong little leaders.
