I teach SHINE at the beginning of the year and you see an instant improvement in student focus and listening. It is similar to SLANT but I find it easier for the students to be able to connect with and grasp.
Explain and practice each part of SHINE. When your class is in need of a behavior and/or focus reminder just say, "SHINE," and you will see their focus quickly come back. Remember to practice several times and be consistent!
The students love hearing that they are "Shining" and "That they must be so bright to shine like that." They love it and so do I!
