EDITABLE FORMATIVE ASSESSMENT or PRETEST for the International System of Units (SI) or Metric System. I use this with my students at the beginning of the year to assess their understanding of SI units from previous science classes. I usually modify it for the post-test.
Students should answer the questions and then the instructor should go through them and quantify student understanding of each section. Reteach sections that students are having troubles mastering.
***OPTIONAL LAB ACTIVITY***
If necessary, students will also be able to use a short lab activity to practice converting from one prefix to another. Students measure the dimensions of common items found in the classroom and then convert those measurements to other SI prefixes.
