Sight Word Fun Activities go with my WORD WALL WORD CARDS and include: Fancy Words, Sight Word Necklace, Sight Word Drill and Triangle It. These are great ways to get your students reinforcing the Sight Words for the Week. These are great for whole class activities or independent centers.
This Fancy Words Worksheet is a great way for students to practice the words for the week. Students use different colored crayons when spelling the weekly sight words to create a rainbow. For older children, have them trace the letters with glue and then use string, colored sand or glitter to decorate.
SIGHT WORD NECKLACE
The Sight Word Necklace is a great way to motivate students to learn sight words. My students are more motivated to learn and are excited when we make these necklaces. First, make copies of the template on white card stock. Then have them write the weekly words on the front and back of the necklace beads. Kids color, cut them out and string them together with yarn to make a fun necklace. This can be used as a whole class activity or set-up as an independent center time.
SIGHT WORD DRILL
Sight Word Drill is a great reinforcing activity to help students learn to spell and read words. Students practice spelling the weekly sight words 2 or 3 times each. They have to think of their own complete sentences to write by picking two words from the week. They need to use crayon to highlight the words and make sure they spelled them correctly. There are two worksheets to help you differentiate.
Triangle It is a fun activity where students are practicing the spelling of sight words. Students spell a sight word, one letter at a time and then draw a triangle around it in marker or crayon. This can be done on any kind of paper.
