- Tag Set (4 sets with 25 cards to a page)
- Small Cards (all 100 words on the one page)
- Games (Word Bingo with the first 25 words and Blank Game Boards for individualisation)
- Class Overviews (4 overviews to identify skill deficits and differentiate learning)
- Individual Record Sheet
- Why Sight Words? - an information sheet
This is a generous freebie because I so believe in teaching sight words and phonics simultaneously for a balanced reading program. It probably doesn't matter too much which sight list you choose as long as you have a system in place to ensure your students make progress. I have used the FRY'S SIGHT WORDS list for over 30 years. The wealth of material in this package means you will save lots of time preparing for sight word mastery and be able to differentiate according to the range of ability you identify.
The Individual Record Sheet allows you to screen each student. The Class Overviews collate that data so you can identify ability groups and target skill deficits accordingly. I use the Tag Sets for the screening and the one-pager for each individual student so they can colour which words they know as they progress.
The games provide fun and you can use the blank board games to target specific skill deficits. I even send these home when I know parents want to be involved. It's the ideal way to ensure new learning is consolidated in long term memory through constant repetition. Some learners need this level of intensity. You could also add them to a Literacy or Reading Centre. All my games are laminated and I use an erasable pen to keep up with skill development.
I also have the FRY'S 300 bundle available. The first 300 of Dr Fry's list represented 65% of the words used in all written material they researched.
