Silent letters are letters contained in words that you cannot hear when you say the word out loud. But when we spell these words we include the silent letter.
Take a slide on a fun board game to learn the silent letters in words. Players 1-4 – Counters and dice. Youngest person goes first.
RULES: Land on a star and you say any silent letter word and spell it to stay put. Land on a letter and say a word that contains that silent letter to stay put otherwise go back to where you started from. Land on a slide and go for a ride forward or backwards. Print out on A4 or enlarge to A3 for a bigger play board. Print out silent word list for support and children can add new words that are discovered.
NB: Purposely does not contain all words. Game board includes most popular silent letters.
