Product Description
This SILLY SENTENCE product has 18 task cards with simple sentences and 18 word cards with picture support. Great for anytime you want kids to have fun with writing and discussing possible answers to the silly pictures. My BEGINNING ELL students absolutely loved this and there were howls of laughter all around! The task cards have ridiculous meanings as they are so they must be corrected. Students determine what word or words are incorrect in the task card sentences and write the sentences correctly on recording sheets. I included the word cards that would most likely fit each scenario that could be posted in a writing center. An answer key is included for the cloze activity pages.

Some students might not need the support of the word/picture cards. Each task card and word card has picture support. Kinders and lower functioning firsties could use this product as a guided activity. It might also be one that teachers could use in small groups as well as for literacy centers. I actually plan to use this in small groups as an oral exercise with the task cards initially; then with the writing.


This product is differentiated with two types of recording pages for students. The first type is simply a cloze activity for students to copy the correct words from the word cards. I created this one for reluctant writers and for students with beginning levels of English language skills. The second type has spaces for students to write the sentences from the task cards themselves (they must discern the incorrect word or words on the task cards.). It is up to you, the teacher to determine which parts of the product that your students need.
