Simplification of Science is not just another book of your average science activities, but one that contains step-by-step, hands-on science inquiries that follow approved National Science Standards Procedures with the question, prediction, procedure, data collection tables, conclusion and follow-up inquiries that few books totally provide. These inquiries are found in Simplification of Science Part 1, Inquiries. These are the procedures that students need for advanced science courses through college level, yet they are presented in a simple format that teaches elementary through high school age students the correct way to conduct a science inquiry. You do NOT NEED EXPENSIVE SCIENCE KITS with lots of parts that steal valuable prep time. Materials needed for inquiries can usually be found around the classroom or home or at very minimal cost. If you pay more than $15 for ALL the inquiries, you have paid too much. Prep time is very low for most of the inquiries.
There are 20 fully explained inquiries, plus over 50 additional extensions for further student exploration and lots of options for students to create their own inquiries and this is where science becomes exciting! The 20 fully explained inquires have easy to follow instructions with background data, where needed, for the teacher to understand the concepts presented. The first inquiry has teacher instructions in bold print to show you how to teach the inquiries simply. Separate student sheets make it easy for teachers or parents to make a classroom set to quickly get the students started on the inquiry. On each student sheet the question is posed, space provided to write their prediction, a data collection table is available for input, and an area provided to write the conclusion.
Part 2, SOS Quizzes, includes 40 quizzes that teach physical, earth, space and life science concepts with valuable background information for instructors. In addition, in BOTH Part 1 and 2, there are more than 50 website references for further background knowledge that give educators confidence to present the inquiries and the quizzes.
