The number tags are used with Cuisenaire Rods and Montessori Bead Bars to practice skip counting. It is important to use manipulatives first before moving to representation then abstraction. The bars are lined up on the work rug or desk and the number tag placed at the end of the bar. Student draws the work with the number tag in their notebook, then practice skip counting from memory. This is a precursor to learning multiplication math facts.
