This poster is based on Dr. Anita Archer’s video on Active Participation Instruction. I show my students Dr. Archer’s video the first day of school. We discuss what each piece looks like, and practice them throughout the following days. I put this poster up to remind my students how to actively participate in class throughout the year. When they’re not actively participating, I remind them by saying, “Show me SLANT.” It works amazingly well! Link to video on credits page.
SLANT stands for:
S = sit up straight
L = listen
A = ask and answer questions
N = nod and take notes
T = track the teacher, board, book (basically whatever you want the students to give their attention to)
This was created to be printed as an 8 1/2 x 11 poster. If it is printed larger than this size, the image may not be as crisp and clear. However, if you have access to a poster printer, it can be printed on that in a larger size. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at email@example.com.
