Sometimes we have students who have little awareness of danger. I made this activity to provide a visual reference and opportunity to discuss situations involving danger, and what steps can be taken to avoid it/deal with it. It includes topics of dealing with strangers vs. trusted authority figures, personal injury, fire, etc.
Danger is such an abstract concept... I typically have a hard time making my students (particularly self-contained students) understand what it means and how to react. I hope the visuals involved make it easier.
Introduce the topic of danger however you are comfortable. Start asking them the wh-questions provided and give them some choices from the cut-outs. Have them place the cutouts into one of two categories ("DO" or "DO NOT"). Give feedback, invite discussion, and discuss consequences and alternative solutions. Feel free to add your own additions to the cut-outs and questions provided.
Included: a table with two sections ("DO" and "DO NOT"), 24 cutouts of how to react to situations (with pictures), and 12 questions regarding personal safety.
