Ah, money! Even the littlest students love to play with and to count money! This is a math sorting activity suitable for primary grades (Kindergarten, First Grade, and Second Grade, mostly). Students use the interactive whiteboard to sort individual coins and groups of coins into two labeled piggy banks. A gentle “ping” sounds if they are correct. Incorrect coins bounce back out!
It could also be useful for children with autism, as it does not have any distracting bells and whistles.
To do this activity, students need to recognize coins at face value and add small groups of coins. On some pages, they will sort individual coins (for example, a penny versus a nickel; or a nickel versus a dime). On other pages, they will sort groups of coins (a nickel plus a penny equals six cents; or a dime plus a penny equals eleven cents).
There are 12 pages, covering 8 counting/sorting activities.
