Ah, Earth Day! This is an Earth Day sorting activity suitable for primary grades (Pre-K, Kindergarten and First Grade, mostly). Sorting items into categories is a basic math skill. Students use the interactive whiteboard to sort Earth Day items into two labeled trash cans or recycling bins. A gentle “ping” sounds if they are correct. It could also be useful for children with autism, as it does not have any distracting bells and whistles.
There are 13 pages, covering 9 sorting activities. Among the items to be recycled: metal cans; magazines; glass jars; plastic bottles; papers; glass bottles. Among the items for trash: fruit peels; old clothes; broken pencils and crayons.
