SMART Goals- Planning for a Prom- Creating SMART Goals
This is a great assignment for students to do to get practice creating SMART goals. The theme for this assignment is planning for a prom. This is a great activity to do in a Personal Finance course for students are creating financial SMART goals to pay for prom expenses. For this assignment, students need to go online and find some articles on prom expenses. They then need to list as many personal expenses that they can think of and record them with an estimate of the prices. Ex. Prom tickets, tux/dress, limo, etc. There is a spot for them to record that info. Students then need to create 3 financial SMART goals- one short-term, one intermediate-term, and one long-term goal for how they would cover those expenses. There is space for students to write their goals and to then turn them into SMART goals for each time period.
This assignment includes detailed directions, an explanation of each part of the acronym SMART, an evaluation table to grade them, and spots for students to record their goals, etc. A very detailed sample answer key is provided for you since all students goals will be different/vary. This a fun assignment for students and a must have in any Personal Finance course where you are teaching students about SMART goals. This assignment can be done in any non-finance class too.
