This SMARTboard lesson is designed to teach the five basic text structures in informational texts (description, comparison/contrast, cause and effect, process or sequence, and problem and solution). The presentation is 17 slides. The first half of the slides present characteristics and signal words for each type of structure. The last five slides give the students a short piece to read and analyze the text structure. This is perfect to use for introducing text structures before you present a more complex text to your students.
