This is a fun way for your students to practice their addition facts! There are different ways this game can be played. You can have each child roll a die to see which one has the biggest number and they go first. Then you can have them draw a card and answer it. Each correct pumpkin flashcard would then be put in their wagon. They can play until them get a SMASH card or until they get an incorrect answer. Each SMASH card would then count one point off their answer total. Or, you can have each child alternate turns with each getting one turn at a time per play. If they get a SMASH card it would still count one point off their point total. To figure out the score, add how many correct pumpkin flashcards are in each wagon and then subtract the number of SMASH cards from the total. The child with the highest score wins. This game can also be mounted on the board and used as a class game for teams to compete. It would also make an excellent math center game. To make the game more durable, laminate all pieces before cutting out. When cutting out the pumpkin flashcards, be sure to cut flashcard out in a rectangular shape. This way, when a child draws a card, they will not be able to tell the pumpkin flashcards from the SMASH flashcards. All flashcards are put in a stack face down for the children to draw a card. There are also blank flashcards that you can program with addition facts.
