What a fun way to keep the learning going while having some holiday fun! There is a CVC pocket chart activity that can be played as a full group game, small group or center. The students match the CVC word to the picture, while trying to find the hidden s’mores ingredients! There is another pocket chart game that is similar only using sight words (First 100 Fry’s). I have also included 30 worksheets. One set is building CVC words and the other set is color the Christmas picture by sight word! (The children also have to write 2 sentences about the picture. It also has a section for “self-evaluation” of their work!)
It is common core aligned and covers these standards:
SL.K.1 I can participate conversations with my friends.
SL.K.4 I can describe things and events.
SL.K.5 I can add drawings to add details.
SL.K6 I can be understood when I speak in class.
LK.1 I can print my letters.
W.K1 I can write my opinion about something.
W.K2 I can write about something I know.
RF.K.1 I can recognize and name all of my upper and lower case letters.
RF.K 3 I can decode a CVC word.
RF.K3.1 I can spell words the way they sound.
RF.K3. I can read my sight words.
Great fun decoding words, writing sentences and reviewing/practicing sight words!
