Do you want to make a snowman? Let's make a snowman book! Here are two different lesson plans for grade 1.
Lesson 1: Teacher-directed
Here’s a fun Simple 6 writing lesson that focuses on LOGICAL ORDER. Students will MAKE A BOOK from construction paper, They will trace and cut out the circle shapes to make the snowman on the cover, drawing in the details. Then they will make a list of “supplies”. Last, they will focus on writing first, next, and finally details to tell how to make a snowman.
Lesson 2: (independent student activity)
Here is a great activity for a STUDENT WRITING CENTER!
Students will read their own directions to create a 12 x 18 story project (with pictures) that explains how to make a snowman. Introduction and conclusion are provided—students will focus on their 3 middle sentences. (Detailed instructions are included for the teacher; simplified for students.)
Have fun with this integrated project!
PS: There is a simpler version for Kindergarten students! (Do You Want to SEE a Snowman?)
