Social Stories are a great way to teach children important social skills that they may be struggling with. Social stories break down information into small, explicit steps so that children can more easily undertand what they should and should not do in a particular social situation.
I wrote this story for a parent who was worried about her child's anxiety over going back to school. Ending the fun times of summer vacation, getting back into new routines like going to bed on time and getting up early, was difficult for her child. Additionally, her child worried about his new teacher, new classroom and who would be in his class. This mom found it helpful to read the story to her child a few times before the new school year began. She was able to use this story to help prepare her son for the upcoming changes and reassure him that some things would remain the same. I hope your child can benefit from this story as well.
Perfect for parents, this is a story about going back to school, what to expect and how to handle it. Short, explicit, and upbeat, this story is great to read to your child if he/she is experiencing anxiety over the start of a new school year.
As with all of my products, I am more than happy to modify this story for you. Perhaps you would like a child's name in the story, or a photo, the name of the child's school, or teacher? Just contact me in the Q and A section and let me know what you would like!
