This is a review of Trigonometry. It starts by reviewing the fact that the sum of the angles in any triangle is 180 degrees. Then students explore the Pythagorean Theorem and practice finding missing side lengths. Students have to find trigonometric ratios using SOH-CAH-TOA and then use their calculators to find sine, cosine, tangent, and the inverse functions. As calculators vary, some students will have a 2nd key while others have to use a SHIFT key on their calculator when finding the angle measures.
By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
• Solve right triangles using the Pythagorean Theorem
• Use special right triangle short-cuts for 45-45-90 and 30-60-90 triangles to find missing side lengths
• Use trigonometric ratios of sine, cosine, and tangent to find missing sides and missing angles
