**Although this was created for kindergarten teachers in the state of VA, the units addressed are covered in most states and can be used anywhere**
These pictures go with the standards for kindergarten teachers in the state of VA. Each week, I review with my students what we are learning about and I post the standard. I follow up with a picture that matches the standard. This provides a nice visual for students who cannot read the standards and it also helps ESOL students when teaching academic language and vocabulary. There is also a few blank cards to add anything you would like.
One thing I did was I cut out a giant head with a big brain and posted it on the wall. Everytime we finished a unit, I would tape these pictures onto the brain and would emphasize to students that when I put the picture on the brain, its because we learned something new that is now in all of our brains. If there was a topic we needed more support in as a whole class, I would tape it outside of the brain and it made students very aware of their own learning and what we all needed to focus on more.
