SOLFEGE Dice Game (Pentatonic)! *Grades 3-9*
This game is similar to Yahtzee in that you have multiple rolls or attempts to get a specific combination of dice. The main goal is to get a points-earning combination of dice - either a full house, four-of-a-kind, five-of-a-kind or the highest-earning combination of 1, 2, 3, 5 and 6 (Do, Re, Mi, So and La - Pentatonic Scale!). This is a great game for familiarizing students with the scale degrees, solfege syllables and the pentatonic scale. As an added bonus, they are simultaneously refining their math skills through keeping track of scores!

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
- 5 dice per group/team (not included)
- 1 printed Score Sheet per group/team*
- 1 printed Rule Sheet per group/team*
-Have students form small groups, each group having approximately three to five players.
-Within each group, designate one player/group member as the Score Keeper.
Score Keeper will write down the names of each player in the group on the Score Sheet (pg. 12). See Sample Score Sheet on Page 15 (COLOR) or 16 (B+W) to see an example of how it should be filled in.
-Students will then proceed to roll one die each to determine who in the group goes first (the person who rolls the highest numbered die goes first).
-Game begins and turns will move clockwise.
*You may find it useful to print out and laminate several double-sided copies of the Pentatonic Dice Game Rule Sheet (pg. 11) on one side and the Scoring Sheet (pg. 12) on the other (both are provided in either COLOR or BLACK & WHITE). This will allow students to write on the score sheets with dry erase markers and erase them after each game, thus saving ink, paper, and your precious time!
