It's important to provide feedback and guidance for written work without correcting it for the student. Students can ask a student or the teacher for guidance during peer-editing or final drafts. This gives students the opportunity to reflect, rethink, and ask for feedback more than once.
I have developed this numbered correction code guide to guide students in correcting their own work. Topics such as gender, SER/ESTAR... etc. are some of the categories. It's not about the final grade--it's about how the students actively participate in the revision.
The correction topics covered are mostly Spanish I, but this can be easily adapted to higher levels.
