I believe students can learn different topics from watching extracts from movies and completing activities. Here is a packet with six activities that students can complete after or as they watch short scenes from the movie UP. The activities in this particular packet are for students to practice and review the preterite as they also learn new vocabulary. It is important that you realize and tell your students that you don't expect them to understand all the Spanish they will hear used in the scenes. Actually, they complete activities more with the pictures they see than what they hear, but little by little they also get good at understanding the language in context.
I hope you find my activities as useful and fun as I do. The extracts from the movie are not longer than 10 minutes but the activities can take up to one hour or more, depending on the size of class and the level of the students. The first 5 pages of the packet are the teacher guides and the last 4 pages are the copies student get.
