Right around Halloween, my students have acquired quite a bit of vocabulary and phrases. I often have them read longer stories with familiar and new words. Students may choose to discover the meaning of new vocabulary based on context clues or they may consult the glossary. At the end of each story, we have a short discussion then I set them free to write their own story in Spanish, or to change the ending to mine.
Level I's and II's work in groups of 2 and are always eager to use new vocabulary and very quickly look up "matar", "sangre", "vampiros", etc.
