What a great way to make practicing vocabulary fun for kids!! This download provides therapists with an entertaining and motivating activity to use with their school aged students while targeting the development of receptive and expressive vocabulary in order to increase student’s comprehension skills and oral expression. Students play the classic game of “SORRY!” that many therapists already have, while practicing expressive vocabulary skills, mainly synonyms. Simply set up your “SORRY” game (sold separately in stores) and replace cards with one set of downloaded cards. Level One and Level Two synonym “SORRY!” game cards are included. Level One words are more common or easier for younger students. Level Two cards are more challenging. The therapist determines the level of difficulty and the extent of prompting or coaching each student will need while playing the game. Many vocabulary words used focus on “Tier 2” vocabulary words that are frequently found in the repertoire of mature language users; instruction in these types of words can have a strong impact on language functioning. Each card set would be used in place of the original “SORRY!” game cards. They are look-alike “SORRY!” cards with synonym questions super- imposed on each card. Students are asked to produce synonyms to a group of given words each time they take their turn while playing the game. Also included in this download is:
•A list of the target synonyms used in order to help the speech language therapist
•A title sheet that can be used as a label for the Ziploc bag that the cards can be stored in
