PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

What a great way to make practicing articulation fun for kids in November!!!! This download provides therapists with an entertaining and motivating activity to use with their school aged students while targeting the development of articulation. Students play the game trying to complete a Thanksgiving puzzle, while practicing articulation of target sounds, mainly “S”, “R”, “L”, “K”, “TH”, “SH” and “CH”. Simply copy, laminate, cut apart and you are ready to play!! Students are asked to identify pictures which focus on target sounds each time they take their turn while playing the game. When appropriate the students can also be asked to use the item pictured in a sentence.

With diverse groups, each student in the group can work on their own target sound while still doing the same activity.
DIRECTIONS
2 to 10 players
Setup:
Print one copy of the student boards and puzzle pieces ( pages5-25) on cardstock. Laminate for durability. . Cut puzzle pieces apart along the black lines.
Print skill cards that will be used. Laminate all cards for durability.
****If all students are working on the same skill then only one set of skill cards. If different skills are being worked on within the group both skill cards should be printed.
Shuffle puzzle pieces cards and place in a pile face down in the center of the table. Shuffle skill cards and place face down in a second pile in the center of the table.

Each student can choose one or two student boards and place them in front of them on the table.

Playing The Game:

Once the puzzle piece cards and the skill cards are shuffled they can be placed in two piles in the center of the table. Each student is then given one or two student boards to place in front of them. With diverse groups each student can receive their own set of skill cards. Each student then takes a turn choosing a skill card and if target sound is produced correctly they can choose a puzzle piece card and see if it belongs on one of their student boards. If it does they should cover that portion of their board with the card. If it does not the card is place at the bottom of the puzzle piece pile and play continues. The students take turns playing in this manner until one student has completed their Thanksgiving puzzle or puzzles or if time runs out the student with the most pieces wins. . For added complexity ask the students to use each word pictured in a sentence.

Winning
The player who completes their Thanksgiving puzzle first is the winner!!!!! If time runs out the player with the most puzzle pieces on their board wins!!
