Product Description
SPLAT! is an interactive math center where students can practice identifying U.S. coins and their value. Kindergarten and first grade students will practice identifying a penny, nickel, dime, quarter, and half-dollar, using heads and tails, while applying this skill through this engaging and purposeful game. It would make a fun review game or intervention for second grade too! This has a cactus theme, but can be used whenever you need your students to practice and apply this number and operations skill.

The game is simple. Students take turns drawing cards. Students answer skill-based game cards and place on the tower. If a student draws a challenge card, they must complete the challenge without the cards falling off the tower!


Ideas for Use:
→ Whole Group to Small Group: Use the game in a whole group setting for the students’ first introduction to them. Repeat the game within guided math, small group, or math centers for students to have multiple opportunities to interact with coins.

→ Flexibility: This resource can be used within centers, guided math, small group, intervention, or tutoring. Students can greatly benefit from the hands-on opportunity for repeated practice. This can be used to supplement ANY math program that you are using and is standards-based.

→ Modifications and Accommodations: Add objects (math manipulatives) to this center to scaffold learning support ALL learners in your classroom and create concrete models. This supports students who need to practice identifying coins and their values. You can add a dry erase board for students to write out the value too!
