Prior Learning: Students have been introduced to vocabulary for sports and hobbies, equipment and activities and expressing the future tense with regular verbs. Learning Objectives: Students will be able to 1) demonstrate listening and reading comprehension as well as writing ability using sports and hobby related vocabulary and verbs and 2) self-evaluate areas of weakness prior to assessment. Standards: Communication L1: Demonstrate command of conventions and grammar when writing and speaking. L2: Demonstrate command of conventions of capitalization, punctuation, and spelling when writing. L3: Apply knowledge of language functions in order to affect comprehension and expression across contexts. L5: Demonstrate understanding of figurative expression, word relationships, and nuances in language. R1: Read closely and state meaning of text. Give specific examples from text to support conclusions. W2: Write a sequential, organized text to inform. W10: Write frequently on a variety of topics for a variety of purposes.
