What is a SQ3R?
A pre-reading strategy that leads students through the steps of SURVEY, QUESTION, READ, RECITE, RESPOND.
This strategy was developed primarily for TEXTBOOKS (or any other resource that the students cannot directly write on); however, it can be used with other texts as well. It is a context building and close-reading strategy that seeks to engage students in new topics, activate prior knowledge, create a base for personal connections, and monitor student learning.
