This handout contains key vocabulary terms and definitions from the SS8H1 American Indians and European Exploration standard, a system for students to self-assess their understanding of each term, and study maps to practice identifying the location of European exploration and settlement.
As a Georgia Studies teacher, I provide this handout at the beginning of the unit as it is a great way for students to preview, learn, and then review key vocabulary from the SS8H1 American Indians and European Exploration standard. Students rank their understanding of each term on a 1-4 scale similar to the Milestone Achievement levels (Beginner-Developing-Proficient-Distinguished).
Parents of ESEP students enjoy this handout because it provides a quick overview of the SS8H1 American Indians and European Exploration standard, and can be used with their child as a study aid. My advanced students appreciate the self-reflection function of this study guide as they desire to be independent and self-directed learners.
Take care, and make Georgia Studies EZ for not only your students, but for you as well!
