The SSA Charte is an adaptation of the well-known KWL Chart. I created this in French in order to use it with my Social Studies students, but it can be used in other disciplines that are taught in French.
Students use the chart to brainstorm what they already know about a given topic, what they would like to learn in the given lesson/unit, and afterwards, what they have learned. This activity can be used at the beginning of a new unit, and can be continually referred back to as the class progresses through the lessons. Teachers can use this graphic organizer as an informal pre-assessment to measure existing knowledge, as well as post-unit, to check for student understanding of specific concepts. The SSA Charte is a useful tool for students to use when having in-class discussions, whether with a partner or as a whole class.
