✓ 32 Task Cards to review and practice the parts of speech (nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, pronouns, prepositions, and conjunctions). Each card gives key information on the history and traditions of St. Patrick’s Day.

✓ 25 pennant flags– as students finish the task cards, they can work on designing a pennant flag of choice featuring interesting facts on St. Patrick’s Day.

SUGGESTED USE:
♦ Provide examples of the Parts of Speech in use in these task cards prior to students working on them.

♦ After students have completed their responses on their Recording Sheet, they may check their answers via the Answer Key sheet or the QR Codes.

♦ To sum up the activity, have students design their pennants by writing a couple of interesting facts on St. Patrick’s Day.

♦ Put up the St. Patrick’s Day banner with students’ pennants for an eye-catching display.

→ Small group rotations (cards may be rotated among small groups of students)
→ Literacy Centers

→ Game of Scoot:
There are many variations to the game. Here’s one:Lay cards around the classroom. When the teacher calls ‘scoot’ students pick up a card and write their response on the provided Recording Sheet. Students can only move when ‘scoot’ is called out. If the student does not finish solving the problem on a card, he/she can continue to spend more time on it, but must wait till the teacher calls out ‘scoot’. You can also have this as a silent activity where students move around quietly solving all the task cards without the teacher calling out ‘scoot’.

→ students who finish quickly can work on designing their pennant flag.
→ Students who take long to finish may have a buddy to help them.
