Escape rooms are all the rage right now, and they're a great way to help your students review for the test in an engaging way! My product is STAAR aligned and includes a paired selection about William Still and Martin Luther King, Jr. Students will work as a group to read the paired selection and then answer 6 STAAR-aligned challenge questions that will lead them to unscramble a coded message. I've also include an answer key, anticipation posters to build student excitement, and photo booth posters for groups to take pictures after they complete the challenge.
The 6 questions target the following TEKS:
This escape room product can be adapted to fit any escape room "story" that you want to use with your students. For example, in my classroom, I tell my students that they have been hired to unlock a locked box that a group of archaeologists recently found. The group that escapes first gets to pick a "treasure" to keep (in reality, they get to open the box and keep a piece of candy or a pencil). I link to this scenario in the product. However, this escape room product does NOT come with envelopes, locks, or any other extravagant scenario. The beauty is that you can take the stories, questions, and code sheet and use it to fit a scenario your students would be interested in.
This product is also included in my STAAR Prep Bundle
