I developed this resource to start using immediately day after day, for the class, but especially for those students who still struggle to put pencil to paper and write. Also, for those students who write but are not really following a logical format. On a recent benchmark, there was progress seen, but I realized that for some students they needed to be more fluent or write at a faster pace because they only had 4 hours to complete the grammar and essay writing test. Then there were those students who forgot the who, what, why, how, fact, memory, and/or opinion.... that we had incorporated into our weekly writing. They were basically not weaned from the graphic organizer that incorporated those words. Hence, we will now practice without the graphic organizer as it should be. The Beat the Clock activity will bring about practice for fluency and development of a paragraph.
