Product Description
I developed this resource to use in two fourth grade classes. Students struggled to write a fully developed paragraph and would often get off task. A visual to remind them they must write at least 5 sentences and examples of scored STAAR paragraphs to show developed and not developed paragraphs was enlightening to the students. The hamburger visual relates to main idea and details in reading and now can be transferred to writing. All I say now is, "Did you feed your paragraph?" or "Don't forget the meat, cheese, lettuce, tomato, and pickle." Students now know they cannot give up with just writing 2-3 sentences. It is work in progress, but by teaching an explicit lesson on a developed paragraph and using the visual is making a difference.
