The K-8th grade TEKS for the 2014-2015 school year have changed, and so will the STAAR test. Where are the resources for STAAR prep now? The authors of STAAR Made Simple products wrote problems in STAAR-format for teachers for this purpose.
In this document you will find 20 problems for TEKS 7.3 and its subsequent student expectations. The problems are also divided into easy, medium and hard categories based upon rigor, similar to the STAAR test. The “hard” problems include student expectations from previous grade levels and/or other 7th grade objectives.
7.3(A) add, subtract, multiply, and divide rational numbers fluently
--Supporting Standard-Reporting Category 2: Computations and Algebraic Relationships
7.3(B) apply and extend previous understandings of operations to solve problems using addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of rational numbers
--Readiness Standard-Reporting Category 2: Computations and Algebraic Relationships
To allow for flexibility in how you choose to use them in your classroom, the problems are not numbered. The problems can be moved into documents you create using the old-fashioned “cut-and-paste” method or an electronic snipping tool. The authors of this document will be using these questions for spiraled review in warm-ups, classroom assessments/chapter tests, and STAAR preparation. Although these problems address seventh grade TEKS, they can be used in Pre-AP/advanced sixth grade classrooms and for eighth grade review.
If you are a teacher from a state using Common Core, these problems cover 7.NS.1-3
These problems are intended for your classroom use and can be duplicated for your students only.
