This is meant to be used as a mini review in the weeks before testing or on that last week when you have practiced so many long passages and long poems that the students need a break- but you need to keep going- so to change things up a bit you can still practice all the student expectations for poetry, but with shorter poems. I have even used this as a bit of a brain break between doing the longer passages by dividing the class into groups and giving each group a page (poem and questions) to complete together and then come up and teach to the class. On the spot, you can quickly do any reteach as necessary. Kids enjoy being the teacher and using the projector. The questions cover inference, drawing conclusions, rhyme, type of poem, alliteration, metaphors and similes, onomatopoeia, repetition, use of exclamation point, how language appeals to the senses, vocabulary , and questions on basic understanding of the poem. Good luck and hope you find this useful.
